Founded by a group of young musicians, music teachers and students of music in 2004,  the association Mousika Niata Kyprou - Jeunesses Musicales Cyprus is Cyprus national section of Jeunesses Musicales International - the biggest worldwide network for youth and music.  JM Cyprus has been set up to appeal to young persons independently of their race, ethnicity, language, religion or other identity, in Cyprus and abroad, and it aspires to develop local cultural life through artistic, educational and social activities, covering all kinds of music. It also acts as a communication link between the musical youth of the two Cypriot communities, Europe and the Middle East and helps encouragement of new trends in the local scene, while also promoting Cyprus’s musical contribution abroad.
